Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University, founded in 1931, according to the official rating of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, occupies a leading position among all pedagogical and linguistic universities in the country.
The structure of the University includes two institutes, 13 faculties or schools, more than 600 faculty work in 50 departments of the University. Among them there are more than 100 Doctors of Science, Full Professors, more than 400 Candidates of Science, Associate Professors. Around 10 thousand students get higher professional education at Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University, among them 5,5 thousand would be full time students and 5 thousand – part time students. The University campus has buildings for educational and social purposes with the total area of more than 76 thousand sq. m., including:
4 academic buildings;
3 dormitories housing 1900 students;
library storing 930 thousand entries;
four-story sports complex with 8 sport halls, a stadium adjoining it with a tennis court and a swimming pool;
educational and health complex including agrobiological station (2 hectares) and a recreation sports-camp for 150 students (20 buildings including cottage-type housing, 14 for all-year dwelling);
botanical garden (more than 1300 species).
