Olga Leontovich

Olga Leontovich is Professor of the Department of Intercultural Communication and Translation at Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University, Head of the Communication Studies Centre, Russian-Chinese Intercultural Research Centre, and American Studies Centre. In 2018–21 she was a part-time Professor at Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Distinguished Professor of Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Prof. Leontovich has authored over 230 publications, including ”The Dictionary of U.S. Life and Culture” for Russian readers (co-author E. Sheigal, 1998, 2nd ed. 2000), several entries for the “World Education Encyclopedia" (2002), monographs “Russians and Americans: Paradoxes of Intercultural Communication” (2003, 2005), “Introduction to Intercultural Communication” (2007), “Communication Research Methods” (2011), “Understanding as the Beginning of Agreement: Intercultural Family Communication” (co-author E. Yakusheva, 2014), collective monograph “Positive Communication” (2020), etc. Prof. Leontovich has the experience of lecturing at a number of universities in China, UK, and the USA. She is on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed academic journals, including the “Russian Journal of Linguistics” (Q1). Her research interests include ethnography of language and communication, sociolinguistics, intercultural communication, narratology and discourse analysis.
